Boston’s Secret Sphinx Statue- FREE to Do/Exploring Hidden Gems

|

So I finally got to check out the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge/Boston, Massachusetts, and boy did it not disappoint! Ranked as one of the higher rated “free tourist places to visit/things to see/do” in the area on Atlas Obscura, this cemetery is anything but dismal- in fact it was architecturally designed to be a park-like expanse of beauty with the intent of attracting visitors and giving city dwellers an arboretum-like atmosphere to explore. Well, the designers succeeded on all accounts, and this place is so huge, and so interesting, that it certainly warrants another visit. Overall, I highly recommend a trip here (especially when things are in bloom), as there is so much to see, its a birding/bird watchers haven, and it stands as a very scenic place to get some exercise. Its also free and open to the public and very kid and family friendly. (Fun Things to do in Cambridge or Boston with kids that are free)
